The handwriting on the wall

We protested George Bush's visit to the Air Force Academy graduation this morning. If your Aramaic is a bit rusty, refer to the 5th chapter of the apocalyptic Book of Daniel for an explanation of our message.

Oh, nevermind, I'll just tell you. While the arrogant King Belshazzar, Nebuchadnezzar's son, was feasting and carousing and generally disrespecting everything and everyone, a hand appeared and wrote these words on a wall. The king did not understand the message and freaked out. A call went out for an interpreter. Daniel was the only one able to divine the meaning.

Mene, Mene, Tekel, Upharsin
Numbered, Numbered, Weighed, Divided

Our message? George Bush, your days are numbered. Your administration's deeds have been weighed and found wanting. Your kingdom will soon be taken from you.

In the Bible, King Belshazzar was slain that very night. I guess we'll have to see what fate awaits King George.

Now that's not very nice to say or suggest...I see that THE bachelor is effecting you. You people somehow forget that this country chose my dear George W...not once, but twice, mind you. He is not forced out by "God" but by our country's own term limits. doy

Helloo, I didn't realize that atheists (or agnostics) "WHATEVER" even referenced the biblical history...I guess when it suits their point, it can become quite useful...or maybe it becomes moot.

Gee it's hard not to think that this probably went over the head of everyone in that caravan. But it made you feel good...and that what counts ultimately. We elitists have our ways... ;-)

Yes, Jacques, I'm positive our cryptic message was lost on everyone in the motorcade. And, likely, everyone else too!

The fun was similar to that experienced when telling a 12-year-old boy that his epidermis is showing.

Other handwriting found on the wall too:

For a good time call...the army.

I, too, thought this was way too cryptic - and maybe a long way to go - when smores would be just as fun. If you want to reach Bush, use his own language: pig latin.

Impeachway Eorgegay Ushbay!

Hi Marie
Yay, I enjoyed reading this. It went over my head until you gave me the literal and cultural translation. But I do like the idea of throwing the book back at the arrogant camp.

I'm an atheist, and at the same time, I am fascinated by the Bible. I have it at my bedside. The stories are wonderful.
