Citizens Project

I just returned from the Citizens Project Creating Community breakfast. We had a room filled with hundreds of Colorado Springs' brightest and most progressive thinkers. The arts crowd was there, the nonprofit organizations, the more progressive business people...even many of the Newspeak! hotties.

In case anyone is unclear about what CP does, their mission is as follows:
Citizens Project spotlights issues in the Pikes Peak region and mobilizes people to strengthen the traditional values of our nation: equal rights, individual freedoms, separation of church and state, civic engagement, and respect for diversity.

Basically, CP watches out for our civil liberties and informs us of goings-on in our town that might otherwise be shrouded in secrecy. They are critically important to our community which, as we are all acutely aware, is full of religious nutjobs and warmongers.

If you have a few dollars to spare, please donate. This year, the Gay and Lesbian Fund for Colorado will match, dollar for dollar (I am so glad Tim Gill discovered the quark or whatever it was that made him so damn rich), new or increased donations up to $25,000. This is a local organization, one that is uniquely ours. They need our financial support to survive.

Send a check to Citizens Project. P.O. Box 2085, CS, CO 80901 or donate online at citizensproject.org.
